The Rally in Lenin square. Donetsk in Support of the Federalization Referendum
The rally began at 12:00. The main organisers are the Communists and the “Eastern Front”. There are about 50 policemen in the square. The actual number of participants is about 1500. The police in the square confirm this. The participants themselves state that their number is 3000. Calls for a referendum can be heard from the stage. The speakers talk about salaries. There are people with Russian flags and St. George’s ribbons, but they are not numerous. The speaker announces that the “Banderovites” arrived in Donetsk and allegedly had a fight on a tram, and asked the people to take care. The speaker says that there are also local “Banderovites” and “fascists” in Donetsk. The police authorities changed in Donetsk the day before. It is said that the newly appointed police authorities are loyal to the current Kiev government.
