Military unit, the ‘Belbek’ airfield
In early March, ‘green soldiers’ [the soldiers wearing uniforms bearing no insignia who invaded Crimea] captured the ‘Belbek’ airfield. The property of the airfield, including storage batteries, parachutes and other items have been damaged extensively or stolen. Almost everything which was in the aerodrome has been taken by looters.
Yesterday (on 18 March, 2014), a health and recreation centre located on the territory, adjacent to the unit, was captured. Currently, the unit is blocked. Approx. 500 people are present at the unit, including women. The existing separatist Crimean authorities label them ‘illegal armed groups’. They are threatening that ‘there will be 500 corpses there”.
People within its territory, are preparing for defence, manning barricades, digging trenches. All specialist equipment and weapons have long been readied for combat mode. There is no accurate information regarding the possibility of the women leaving the territory.
They are asking for information support and real assistance, as the situation is hopeless.
